Bonjour et Bienvenue!

Bonjour! Oki! Hello!

Welcome to Mme Anderson's class blog! Here you can find updates about what is going on in our classroom and around our school.

We've only had 7 days of class but we have been busy! During the first week we established some classroom norms and rules of respect. We also made an awesome classroom puzzle to symbolize that our classroom community is not whole if one piece is missing or left out. Check them out!

In Math we are working on place value. We've been playing a game called "Junk It" where the aim is to arrange numbers rolled on 10 sided dice to create the biggest number possible. We've had a lot of fun playing this as a class and in partners!

Earlier last week we talked about all the wonderful things that we appreciate about living in Calgary while recognizing that we are visitors here on Treaty 7 land. We talked about the importance of Land Acknowledgements and the part that they play in our lives and in reconciliation. This eventually took us outside to do some sketching of our natural surroundings. While we were doing this we met our friend Jerry the caterpillar. The students got very attached to Jerry. We took pictures so that you could meet Jerry too :)

For French we talked a lot about Terry Fox. We did some writing in our journals about why he is important to us. We also made some posters to hang around the school to advertise École Tuscany's Terry Fox Run on September 22nd. They're not finished yet but here's a sneak peek:

It's been a fantastic start to the year and I'm so excited that we get to spend the ENTIRE rest of the year learning together!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mme Anderson
