October Already?!?
Hello all and Happy Friday!
This week we spent a lot of time acknowledging Orange Shirt Day. We read three books together: Shi-Shi-Etko (Nicola I. Campbell), When We Were Alone (David Robertson), and Les Mots Volés (Melanie Florence). At the end of the week we made orange paper T-shirts explaining why we matter, and why Every Child Matters.
In English we started working on opinion writing! We learned about how to structure a paragraph and provide interesting evidence! Students explained their opinions on dogs vs cats, chocolate vs vanilla, rain vs snow, and summer vs winter! There were some pretty funny and awesome opinion pieces that the students wrote up. Next week I'd like to have students share their writing pieces with the class!
In math we continued to work on place value and we started skip-counting today! It looks like we have a strong grasp on counting by 5s and 10s but need more practice counting by 3s and 4s! We will do more of this next week!
In French we talked about the silent -ent conjugation that we see on the end third person plural verbs! We read a book called Une Fete Chic and practiced reading these verbs (and acting them out!) without pronouncing those three silent letters! We also continued to work on our circles project..here's a sneak peek of a few finished products..
Enjoy your weekend and Happy October!
